Lester Holt to Anchor With His Son on NBC Chicago: ‘I have to be on my A-game’

By Merrill Knox

Lester Holt is in Chicago for the Thanksgiving holiday, but technically, he won’t be on vacation. The NBC News anchor will share the anchor desk at NBC Chicago tomorrow afternoon with his son, Stefan Holt.

Stefan Holt joined WMAQ in 2011 as the station’s morning anchor. The pair will anchor Friday’s noon newscast.

“I asked him: You’re not working on Thanksgiving are you?” Lester Holt told the station. “He said, ‘Actually I am.’ I said, ‘if you guys are short, if [WMAQ anchor] Daniella Guzman wants the day off, I can fill in.'”

“I’m a little nervous to be honest,” Lester added. “I have to be on my A-Game. He’s pretty good. I’ve been watching him.”

Lester Holt was an anchor in Chicago (at CBS-owned WBBM) for 14 years before joining NBC News in 2000.
