Lester Holt Gives NBC Nightly News Double Digit Growth

NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt is on a roll, winning its fifth week in row in all measurements and growing the audience double digits compared to the same week last year. Nightly News was up +13 percent in viewers and up a whopping +25 percent in the A25-54 demo.

This same week last year was Diane Sawyer‘s final week as anchor of ABC’s World News. With George Stephanopoulos and Tom Llamas filling in for David Muir, the ABC broadcast was up +6 percent in viewers but down -2 percent in the demo. CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley (with Norah O’Donnell, Jane Pauley and Maurice DuBois filling in) was also up +6 percent in viewers, but down -3 percent in the demo.

All in, the three evening newscasts averaged 22.57 million viewers last week, up from 20.92 the same week last year, up +1.65 million viewers.

CBS is based on a 4-day average (Mon-Thurs) due to an NFL pre-season game on Friday.
