Leno Wins Big With Obama, But Nightline Beats Letterman

By SteveK

With the strong ratings Thursday night for President Barack Obama’s appearance on NBC’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno, NBC won the late night week big last week.

But ABC’s Nightline topped CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman in both Total Viewers and the A25-54 demo. It was the 11th consecutive week Nightline grew year-to-year in Total Viewers, and the program was up 9% week-to-week.

Show Network A25-54 Total Viewers
Tonight Show NBC 3.12M 7.23M
Nightline ABC 1.73M 3.94M
Late Show CBS 1.65M 3.72M

> Update: An emailer points out Letterman was in repeats on Thursday and Friday, and delayed (but could very well have had a strong lead-in) due to NCAA basketball.
