PBS anchor Jim Lehrer underwent successful heart valve surgery on Wednesday, reports The New York Times’ Brian Stelter.
A spokesperson for Lehrer tells the Times that he felt ill last Friday and checked into Massachusetts General Hospital. He expects to be back with The Newshour, “within a few weeks.”
Lehrer had planned to anchor from Pittsburgh this week to highlight the Pennsylvania primary. Judy Woodruff and Gwen Ifill filled in.
