Lauren Kapp Leaves NBC News for Huffington Post

Longtime NBC Newser Lauren Kapp is jumping to the Huffington Post.

Kapp who lead marketing and communications for NBC News, will join HuffPo in a larger, newly-created role as SVP of global strategy, marketing and communications (See today’s NYTimes story on revamping at HuffPost). Kapp, who is a key adviser to NBC News president Steve Capus, will do the same for Arianna Huffington. “I am delighted to welcome Lauren to HuffPost as a member of our executive team,” said Huffington. “For a decade, Lauren has been an innovator and key advisor at NBC News, helping that historic and venerated brand maintain its standing and expand its audience during a time of tremendous upheaval in media.”

Kapp joined NBC News from ABC News in 2002, first as the publicist for the “Today” show and later for “Nightly News with Brian Williams.” She was promoted to SVP of NBC News communications in 2010.
