Larry King on Bill O’Reilly, Megyn Kelly and Jake Tapper

60 years in broadcasting and Larry King is still asking questions.

“I know nothing about pawn shops, but I’m curious. I’ve always been curious,” King told TVNewser after he moderated a panel at the NAB Show with Rick Harrison, star of History Channel’s Pawn Stars and Jon Taffer, ep and host of Bar Rescue on Spike.

King spent 25 years at CNN as host of Larry King Live. So we wanted to get his take on the current cable news landscape, starting with his thoughts on last week’s sudden end to the 20-year Fox News career of Bill O’Reilly.

“He deserves it,” King said bluntly. “You can’t do the things he did and get away with it anymore. You do that to women, it’s inexcusable.”

King thought Megyn Kelly “will do well” at NBC. “She’s very good.”

He also had some thoughts on his old 9 p.m. timeslot at CNN, which is being filled this week by Jake Tapper. “He’s doing it for one week, I think. They don’t know what they do at 9 O’Clock. Every week it’s something different,” King said, adding, “I like Jake a lot.”
