Lachlan Murdoch: No Changes Planned for ‘Unique and Important’ Voice of Fox News

By Mark Joyella

21st Century Fox executive chairman Lachlan Murdoch told investors Wednesday there will be no shift to the middle for Fox News in the post-Ailes era.

Speaking on a Q4 earnings call, Murdoch said the family has “moved quickly and decisively to protect the business, to protect its employees, and to protect the unique and important voice Fox News broadcasts.”

Two weeks ago we received and accepted Roger Ailes‘ resignation from the business. Our father took up the responsibility of leading Fox News as chairman and acting CEO. Throughout this process, we have moved quickly and decisively to protect the business to protect its employees and to protect the unique and important voice Fox News broadcasts. There is no one more dedicated or more able to transition Fox News to new leadership than its founder. As acting CEO, he joins an existing team that is extraordinarily strong and equally devoted to success.

CNBC, Bloomberg and Fox Business all reported on Murdoch’s statement and the company’s earnings. At the Cable Network Programming segment, which includes Fox News, income increased 10 percent to $1.21 billion, driven by increased affiliate and advertising revenue. And that comes after “higher political coverage costs at Fox News,” the earnings report reads.

“As long as Donald Trump is running for president, it does not matter who is running Fox News,” Bloomberg’s Matt Miller said following the earning report Wednesday.
