Kyra Phillips Honored in Atlanta, Then Back to NY

By Alissa Krinsky

CNN’s Kyra Phillips returned to her home base of Atlanta over the weekend to receive The Atlanta Press Club’s National Television Journalist of the Year award. The honor was for her 2007 reporting, which included a six-week assignment in Baghdad.

Phillips then returned to New York yesterday where she’ll anchor her midday CNN show. Phillips has been anchoring from CNN’s New York studios since late April, when she began filling in on American Morning for Kiran Chetry, who was on maternity leave.

A CNN spokesperson tells TVNewser Phillips plans to continue broadcasting from NYC through mid-August, when she expects to return to anchoring from Atlanta.
