Katie Couric’s First ABC News Guest Is…

This evening on “Nightline” Katie Couric will make her ABC News debut. Couric interviewed actress Sarah Jessica Parker, tied to the release of her new film I Don’t Know How She Does It.

The Hollywood Reporter‘s Marisa Guthrie has more on the interview and what Couric will be doing for ABC:

The interview is something of a soft-launch for Couric, who officially joined ABC News last June as what division president Ben Sherwood described as “the ultimate utility player.” The news division perch allows Couric to keep her hand in TV news — and her face on television — while she develops her syndicated daytime talk show at Disney/ABC Television Group. Since the announcement, she’s appeared as a guest host on Barbara WaltersThe View. And she’ll also contribute to ABC News’ coverage of the upcoming tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

TVNewser was the first to report last month that Couric and her team have chosen the name “Katie” for her upcoming talk show on ABC. The talker will debut in about a year on the network.
