Thursday night’s primetime “20/20” special devoted to Regis Philbin delivered a solid but unspectacular eight million viewers for ABC at 8 PM. The special–hosted by Katie Couric–delivered ABC’s best numbers in that hour in eight weeks, and second best numbers since January. That having been said, the special placed third in its timeslot in total viewers, and fourth in the 18-49 demo.
The program was up against stiff competition, including a highly-touted Thursday Night Football game, CBS’ crime procedurals and “The X Factor” on Fox.
