Katie Couric Teams Up with Elmo

CBS’ Katie Couric appeared today with Elmo and the Sesame Street crew in NYC’s Madison Square Park for a tree planting ceremony celebrating the new initiative “When Families Grieve,” which aims to help military and civilian families with young children cope with the loss of a parent.

The program launches with a primetime PBS special featuring Couric on April 14th at 8pm. (More info here.) Some of the children and families appearing in the special also attended.

We spoke with Couric about the initiative and the trip she took to Haiti earlier this week. Plus, Elmo spills the beans to TVNewser about what it was like to work with the “Evening News” anchor:
