Kagan Talks Twitter, Oprah, Going to “Grad School” on Menu

By SteveK

Today on the Menu podcast we were joined by Daryn Kagan, creator and host of DarynKagan.com, which focuses on “inspirational, motivational stories.”

“Let’s be honest, you can’t do traditional news for as long as I did and not know that bad things happen in the world,” said Kagan. “But the stories that I’ve always been fascinated with…were the stories of people who rise up during crisis.”

The former CNN anchor has embraced new media — she’s active on Twitter and Facebook, and puts out a daily Webcast. “I have gone to grad school,” she said. “It has been quite the lesson, but everyone’s kind of having to learn, and I just had to learn a little bit faster and a little bit sooner.”

Kagan recently began contributing to Oprah Radio — and she announced she has a new project in the works as well. “We’re looking at a new deal to syndicate DarynKagan.com content to local news stations,” she said.

Also discussed: a radio broadcast with a live studio audience, the impact of social media and how the current media climate is “like the Wild West.”
