Juan Williams, co-host of The Five on Fox News, was named Television Broadcast Journalist of the Year at the second annual Multicultural Media Correspondents Dinner. The soiree was held last night at the National Press Club in DC. Event attendees and honorees are traditionally diverse in age, ethnicity, and political persuasion.
“I was pretty wowed by the honor,” Williams told Fox 5 DC’s Ronica Cleary. “It was a very tumultuous year in some ways given all the politics that happened and to go through that history making cycle and then come out and be acknowledged by my peers as Broadcast Journalist of the year is pretty fantastic.”
Williams is a 20-year veteran of Fox News, best known for these days for his role as The Five’s sole progressive co-host. The Five moved to Fox News prime time on April 24 after the departure of Bill O’Reilly, and currently sits in second place across cable news in its new 9 p.m. time slot.
