We have written about Foxnews.com reporter Jana Winter, who may face prison time over her refusal to name sources in a report about the Aurora shooting. Winter reported that the suspect, James Holmes, sent his psychiatrist a notebook filled with violent imagery.
Winter’s plight has been relatively under-covered in outlets outside of Fox News, a topic Buzzfeed’s Hunter Schwarz has now tackled:
“If she worked for mainstream newspapers or CNN, I think the case would have been covered,” said Judith Miller, a Fox News contributor who was jailed for 85 days for refusing to reveal a source she used for a story in The New York Times in 2005. “There’s a certain reluctance because it’s Fox News.”

Now, finally, Winter is getting more media support, even if FNC’s competitors aren’t on board just yet. The case has implications for all journalists, which makes the relative silence all the more surprising.
Observation: If @janawinter ,who may go to jail to protect sources, worked for @nytimes instead of @foxnews the case would be huge.

I’m w/ @jmfreespeech on this one: Pretty surprised at how little attention the @janawinter case is getting buzzfeed.com/hunterschwarz/…
