Jon Stewart Rips Fox News as ‘The Special Network’

By Mark Joyella

On “The Daily Show” Thursday, Jon Stewart mocked Fox News for its recent self-congratulatory coverage of “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot,” which many at Fox, including Megyn Kelly, correctly raised doubts about having actually happened as others ran with the phrase as fact. Noting that Kelly, as we reported earlier, had previously been correct with reservations about the Duke lacrosse story and elsewhere, Stewart said “they got it right three times in ten years–those are solar eclipse numbers, people.” Stewart even produced a “Fudgie the Whale” ice cream cake as a reward.

At the end of the segment, Stewart noted that Fox News is now 18 years old, “and just like every other 18-year-old you have a massive ego and spend 24 hours a day jerking yourself off.”
