Jon Stewart, Dubbed ‘Propagandist’, Fires Back at Fox News

Daily Show host Jon Stewart opened his final week before leaving Comedy Central with a comedic attack on the Fox News Channel, which featured Baltimore Sun’s David Zurawik calling Stewart a “propagandist” for the Obama White House.

Stewart dissected the segment from Sunday’s MediaBuzz with Howard Kurtz, noting that while he was described as a tool of the White House, no evidence was provided to make that case. Stewart, meanwhile, played a string of clips showing him grilling and questioning the president’s policies–and clips from Fox News of hosts describing Stewart as being tough on the president. “My hunch is this show’s been harder on this administration and this president per capita than you ever were” covering two terms of President George W. Bush, Stewart said. He then jokingly bid farewell and set fire to his studio before being reminded he has three more shows. Stewart’s Fox News screed comes a few days after his successor, Trevor Noah, said he’ll focus less on Fox News when he takes over The Daily Show.
