John King Says Goodbye To ‘John King USA’

By Alex Weprin

Yes, there was a very high-profile goodbye on a certain network morning show yesterday, but in the early evening, there was one more. CNN’s John King ended his show “John King USA” in a fitting way, playing a clip from his very first program.

That clip was an interview with Vicki Kennedy, the wife of former Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy, the subject was health care reform.

“This is my last day anchoring this program. Like the first day, health care reform was the day’s driving story,” King said, setting up the clip.

King: “Fascinating for her to come on, on day one of the program, Kate and I thought maybe we’d go back in time, a little irony health care was the driving issue on this day as well.”

Bolduan: “I think you put it well, a really poignant way to came full circle on the program John.”

King: “I think we have those red chairs in storage. you want one to take home?”

Bolduan: “Sure thing, it would look great with the decor.”

King: “It’s all yours, Kate will be here tomorrow night for you and I’ll see you on the campaign trail.”
