‘Morning Joe’ Sacarborough’s ‘Favorite Things’

By Alex Weprin

“Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough is the subject of this month’s “Favorite Things” column in Men’s Journal.

In the interview, Scarborough reveals his favorite fast food (Krystal hamburgers) and book (Hemingway’s A Moveable Feast), but he also talks passionately about his favorite hobby, music:

Music is passion number one. I started writing songs when I was 13 and spent my teenage years — and my 20s, 30s, and 40s — writing songs. I went out and played live, but mainly it was about locking myself in my room and recording. I do nothing great but play everything good enough to get my ideas down. I’m obviously influenced by the Beatles, but also Elvis Costello. I’ve never prized guitars, but as far as pure looks go — if you want to be shallow — my favorite is a sunburst Rickenbacker, but the fact that I still have my Telecaster when the rest of my guitars are scattered over 20 states speaks volumes. The Tele is just the American guitar with that great, bright American sound.
