Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones comes clean about his team’s poor performance in a 60 Minutes interview that airs on Sunday.
In an interview with correspondent Scott Pelley, Jones admits that the preseason hype surrounding the Cowboys got the best of him.
“Before this year started, we were recognized as probably or certainly one of two that were favored to win the Super Bowl,” said Jones. “What you’re seeing now is agony. I am not willing to accept what we’re doing and how we’re playing.”
Would Jones’ friend, the late New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, fired him by now as general manager?
“Of course he would have,” Jones said on Steinbrenner. “There’s no doubt in my mind he would have.”
At least Jones realizes the awful job he has done this season. Whether he’s able to right the ship in 2011 remains to be seen.
