Jeff Zucker Explains Why CNN Isn’t Airing Charlie Hebdo Cartoons

Jeff Zucker (4)The debate continues inside U.S. newsrooms today about whether to show Charlie Hebdo cartoons as a way of reporting on yesterday’s massacre in Paris.

The cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed have bothered Muslim groups for years, but now the cartoons are creating a different kind of controversy.

According to a CNNMoney story, CNN Worldwide president Jeff Zucker addressed the situation in the network’s daily editorial meeting this morning:

Journalistically, every bone says we want to use and should use the images.  As managers, protecting and taking care of the safety of our employees around the world is more important right now.
