Jeff Zucker Addresses CNN’s ‘ISIS Flag’ Error

In a meeting with New York employees Thursday, CNN worldwide president Jeff Zucker conceded that a recent report describing a banner covered with sex toys as an “ISIS flag” was an embarrassment for the network.

During the June 27 report from the London Pride parade, CNN’s Lucy Pawle said “I seem to be the only person to have spotted this and nobody seems to be raising any questions and pointing it out.”

CNN later pulled the video of the story, but never addressed the error on air.

The Washington Post, citing insiders, said Zucker answered a town hall question about the incident, admitting it was embarrassing, but saying “there was nothing to merit an apology. CNN investigated the matter and took necessary action in the aftermath.”
