Former “Early Show” news anchor Jeff Glor has added a new role to his portfolio at CBS News. Glor will become the regular anchor of the Sunday edition of the “CBS Evening News.” The anchor role is in addition to his job as a special correspondent for “CBS This Morning,” which launches on Monday.
Glor is taking over–in part at least–for Russ Mitchell, who announced that he was leaving CBS to join an NBC affiliate in Cleveland. Mitchell anchored the “Evening News” on Saturday and Sunday. CBS has not named an anchor for the Saturday edition of the nightly news program.

“CBS THIS MORNING” SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT JEFF GLOR NAMED ANCHOR OF THE SUNDAY EDITION OF THE “CBS EVENING NEWS”
Jeff Glor has been named anchor of the Sunday edition of the CBS EVENING NEWS. Glor was named Special Correspondent for CBS THIS MORNING in November 2011 and he will continue in that role.
Previously, Glor served as News Anchor of “The Early Show” since January 2011. From 2009-2010, he was anchor of the Saturday edition of the CBS Evening News and a national correspondent for all CBS News broadcasts. He joined CBS News in 2007 as a national correspondent for “The Early Show.”
While at CBS News, Glor has covered a number of major domestic and international stories. In 2011, he reported live from Norway on the twin terror attacks that rocked the country in July, and in September he won an Emmy award for his “CBS Sunday Morning” report, “Paving the Way,” a profile of the decaying Rust Belt steel town of Braddock, Pennsylvania and Mayor John Fetterman’s efforts to restore it.
Glor was also one of the first journalists on the ground in Haiti following that country’s devastating earthquake in January, 2010. He reported from Baghdad, Iraq, where he was embedded with U.S. soldiers and conducted a one-on-one interview with Gen. David Petraeus. Glor also traveled to China in August 2008 to cover the Beijing Olympic Games and to Vancouver in February 2010 to cover the Winter Games. In 2008, Glor was a lead member of the CBS News team that covered Pope Benedict XVI’s historic visits to Washington, D.C. and New York City. He was also “The Early Show’s” primary campaign correspondent during the 2008 presidential election.
Before joining CBS News, Glor served as the weekend evening news anchor and a weekday reporter for WHDH-TV Boston (2003-07). While there, he covered many national news stories, including the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens; the Pope’s death from Rome, in 2005; and the hearings on steroid use in Major League Baseball from Washington, D.C.
Prior to that, Glor was the co-anchor of WSTM-TV Syracuse’s 5 PM newscast and a reporter for the 11 PM newscast (2000-03), as well as the morning news anchor (1997-2000). Among the national stories he covered while in Syracuse were the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, from New York City, and the first anniversary of the attacks and the crash of Flight 587 in Queens, N.Y. He also reported live from Toronto when the Pope visited there in 2002.
Glor began his journalism career in 1997 as the station’s news writer, while attending college. While in Central N.Y., he was named “Best Male News Anchor” by the Syracuse New Times, one of the 40 most promising professionals under the age of 40, and he served as a contributing researcher and writer on “The Legal Handbook for N.Y. State Journalists.”
Born in Tonawanda, NY, Glor graduated magna cum laude from Syracuse University in 1997 with a degree in journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and a degree in economics from the College of Arts and Sciences.
