January 2014 Ratings: Fox #1 For 12 Years

FNC has now been the most-watched news channel for 12 years running and the network was the only cable news channel to post year-to-year gains in total day, both total viewers and the demo.

The ratings for January 2014 (Nielsen Live + Same Day data):

  • Primetime (Mon-Sun): 1,693,000 total viewers / 264,000 A25-54
  • Total Day Mon-Sun): 1,092,000 total viewers / 220,000 A25-54

The network is up +7% in viewers and up +5% in the demo in total day viewing. In primetime, FNC is up +5% in viewers but down -1% in the demo. “The O’Reilly Factor” remains cable news’s #1 show, with FNC’s “The Five” finishing second. “The Factor” is down -5% in viewers and down -10% in the demo vs. January 2013, while “The Five” is up +10% in viewers and up +4% in the demo.

“The Kelly File” which took over the 9pm hour in October, took the No. 3 spot on cable news. Megyn Kelly improved the time period +18% vs. January 2013, but the show was down -8% in the demo vs. January 2013 when Sean Hannity hosted at 9pm.

January marks one year of Fox News sweeping the top 14 programs in cable news among total viewers.
