Jane Pauley On Whether She Misses TV: “I Don’t, Really”

Former NBCer Jane Pauley is interviewed by the Cincinnati Enquirer‘s John Kiesewetter. Excerpts:

• If she considers herself ‘retired’ from television: “No, I’m just unemployed. I don’t think of myself as retired at all, but there is a definite period of transition, when we’re trying to figure out what we want to do and get it under way.”

• If she misses TV: “I don’t, really.”

• On campaigning last fall in her native state of Indiana for Barack Obama: “I wouldn’t even wear a campaign button [during her TV days]…This was the first time in my adult life that I ever campaigned for someone. I really criss-crossed Indiana. I got a thorough dose of home.”

• A memory of covering Presidential inaugurations past: “One of my first assignments for the Today show was covering the Carter inauguration parade [in 1977]. I spilled a cup of coffee on Tom Brokaw’s notes minutes before the first band stepped off.”
