Jada Pinkett Smith: ‘People Who Sell Children Are Monsters’

By Brian Flood

Jada Pinkett Smith has teamed up with CNN for an hour-long special report detailing human trafficking that’s happening right here in the United States. Children for Sale: The Fight to End Human Trafficking debuts tomorrow at 9 p.m. ET on CNN.

“We know that Jada was first inspired to take up the fight against human trafficking by her daughter, Willow, and her voice in this documentary speaks for mothers everywhere — that our children must be protected from this modern-day form of slavery. Jada’s passion for the fight and her compassion for the victims shines through in what is a very powerful and informative special report,” CNN programming evp Michael Bass told TVNewser.

The special will focus on the human trafficking industry, the lives of children involved and those fighting back against this form of modern-day slavery. Pinkett Smith and CNN follow undercover officers on raids and rescues of underage victims.

“For me, this project is extremely important because I want the world to understand the dangers that every kid in America is susceptible to,” Pinkett Smith said. “Human trafficking is one aspect of the vulnerabilities and obstacles that we are confronted with. People who sell children are monsters.”
