As TVNewser first speculated yesterday, CNBC has announced an expansion of “Squawk Box,” including a new “tri-anchor format” and a “Squawk on the Street” set at the New York Stock Exchange. Here is the press release.

Beginning Dec. 19, the “ensemble-formatted” Squawk will air from 6 to 10am. Joe Kernen, Becky Quick and former NBC News correspondent Carl Quintanilla will tri-anchor the program. Mark Haines will host a 9am live “Squawk on the Street” show from a new set at the New York Stock Exchange. And Newsweek senior writer Charles Gasparino will join the ensemble as “on-air editor.” David Faber will continue to contribute to the show.

“These changes in our Business Day programming emphasize the power of the ‘Squawk Box’ brand and global power of CNBC,” Mark Hoffman says. “We’re launching the first ever daily, live global business program as well as expanding our popular ‘Squawk Box’ program with an exciting new anchor team of Kernen, Quick and Quintanilla. They, along with Haines and Faber at 9 am, will make for a substantive and entertaining way to start the business day.” More…
