The annual “Nerd Prom” weekend — when media executives, television personalities and Hollywood celebrities descend on Washington, D.C. for the annual White House Correspondents Dinner — is upon us. Joel McHale will host the event at the Washington Hilton tonight.
The dinner is the subject of a new two-hour documentary produced by Patrick Gavin. In “Nerd Prom: Washington’s Wildest Week,” Gavin interviews a handful of people about the dinner, which brings everyone together, as one interviewee says, “probably for no greater reason than the fun of it.” Gavin, formerly of Politico and FishbowlDC, shared the trailer with us:
