CBS News president David Rhodes has promoted longtime CBS News foreign editor Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews to Vice President of News. Ciprian-Matthews will coordinate all day-to-day news coverage, both foreign and domestic.
“I’m thrilled to have Ingrid in this important role coordinating our coverage,” said Rhodes in a statement. “When I joined the organization just last month, Ingrid immediately impressed me as someone who could be a leader in our newsroom.”
The Domincan Republic-born, Barnard and NYU-educated, Emmy Award-winning Ciprian-Matthews has been foreign editor since 2006. Before that she was senior broadcast producer for the “CBS Evening News” and, earlier, senior producer for CBS News’ foreign coverage. She joined CBS News in 1993 as senior producer for “CBS This Morning.” Before CBS Ciprian-Matthews spent nine years at CNN, as producer, assignment editor and later managing editor in the New York bureau.
