Imus Gets Super Sized on FBN; Stuart Varney Moves to Mid-Morning

ICN has the scoop on the programming changes coming to Fox Business Network in the wake of Alexis Glick’s departure late last year.

Imus in the Morning will now go until 9:20amET, when Stuart Varney’s new show, Varney & Company takes over until 11amET. Varney, a CNBC and CNN alum, joined Fox in 2004 and became an FBN anchor at the network’s launch in Oct. 2007.

Other changes to the schedule include FBN’s Dagen McDowell and Brian Sullivan co-anchoring from 11-NoonET and 1-2pmET. Cheryl Casone continues at NoonET.

FOX BUSINESS NETWORK NAMES STUART VARNEY ANCHOR OF NEW MORNING BUSINESS PROGRAM

FOX Business Network (FBN) has named Stuart Varney as the lead anchor of its new morning business block.

The new program, entitled Varney & Company will follow an expanded Imus in the Morning and begin at 9:20 AM/ET, running through 11 AM/ET. The show will cover the market open and feature interviews with Wall Street experts, key industry executives and policy makers. Regular commentary and news reports will be provided by FBN’s Charles Payne, Chris Cotter, Tracy Byrnes and Sandra Smith while Nicole Petallides and Shibani Joshi will report live from the floor of the NASDAQ and NYSE. Varney & Company replaces Alexis Glick’s Opening Bell.

Following Varney, FBN’s Dagen McDowell and Brian Sullivan will co-anchor the 11AM-12PM/ET and the 1-2PM/ET FOX Business Block, while Cheryl Casone will continue as anchor of the 12-1PM/ET hour. The remainder of FBN’s market and business news coverage will remain in place with Liz Claman and David Asman covering the close of the markets (2-5PM/ET), followed by Happy Hour (5-6PM/ET), Cavuto (6-7PM/ET), America’s Nightly Scoreboard (7-8PM/ET), The Dave Ramsey Show (8-9PM/ET) and Stossel (Thursdays 8-9PM/ET).

Varney joined FBN as an anchor in 2007 and has also served as business contributor and substitute host for FOX News Channel’s (FNC) Your World with Neil Cavuto. Since joining FNC’s business team in 2004, Varney has contributed to the network’s weekday and weekend business programming including Your World, Bulls & Bears, Cavuto on Business and Cashin’ In.

Prior to FNC, Varney served as the host of CNBC’s Wall Street Journal Editorial Board with Stuart Varney and before that, he was a co-anchor of CNN’s Moneyline News Hour. Varney helped launch CNN’s business news team in 1980 and hosted many of their financial programs including Your Money, Business Day and Business Asia. His reporting and analysis of the stock market crash of 1987 helped earn CNN a Peabody Award for excellence in journalism.
