Newspaper columnist and radio host Howie Carr appeared on “Good Morning America” today, where he revised his position on the FBI’s ad campaign targeting mobster James “Whitey” Bulger. Bulger was arrested by the FBI last night in California.
On “The O’Reilly Factor” Tuesday, Carr said he was skeptical that the PSAs would lead to Bulger’s capture.
“I guess the FBI knew what they were doing when the FBI put those public service announcements on the air,” Carr said on “GMA.”
Carr told “GMA'”s Robin Roberts that he believed Bulger would be caught… just not where they found him:
“I thought this day would come, but I assumed they would catch him in Europe somewhere,” Carr said. “There hasn’t been a credible sighting of the guy in the U.S. since 1996.”
Carr added that he believed Bulger to be trapped in Europe after security was tightened after 9/11. The last credible sighting of Bulger before he was captured was in London in 2002.
