How the Morning Shows Covered the Sexual Harassment Claims Against Ryan Seacrest

By Chris Ariens

On the syndicated Live with Kelly and Ryan this morning, co-host Ryan Seacrest made no mention of the sexual harassment allegations made against him by his former personal stylist.

Suzie Hardy told her story to Variety in a story published Monday. Seacrest got ahead of the allegations earlier this month denying them in a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter.

As for the broadcast morning shows, the Today show and CBS This Morning reported the story. Those two programs saw their male anchors fired late last year for their own behavior. Good Morning America did not report on the Seacrest allegations. Seacrest not only hosts Live, which is seen on many ABC affiliates, but he’s also hosting the revival of American Idol on ABC beginning March 11.

Seacrest also works for E!, which is owned by NBCU. The network said its two-month investigation into Hardy’s allegations found “insufficient evidence to support her claims.”

In 2012, Seacrest was brought on as a Today show special correspondent as part of his larger deal with NBCU. More recently, he was also a late night host for NBC Olympics coverage in Rio.
