How Did Jake Tapper Do in His CNN Hosting Debut?

By Merrill Knox

Jake Tapper made his hosting debut on CNN last night, presenting a documentary on a soldier that served at Combat Outpost Keating in Afghanistan. It’s a story based on Tapper’s book “The Outpost.”

The doc pulled in 588,000 Total Viewers and 145,000 in the A25-54 demographic, down from its lead-in “Piers Morgan Tonight” but improving the 10pmET timeslot (“Anderson Cooper 360” re-air) which has averaged 461,000 Total Viewers and 141,000 A25-54 viewers for Mon-Wed. Tapper’s documentary improved the week-to-date average by +28% in Total Viewers and +3% in A25-54 viewers.

The doc was the lowest-rated hour in CNN primetime. Both the 8pmET edition of “AC360” and “PMT” at 9pmET delivered their highest Total Viewer audiences of the week last night. “AC360” beat MSNBC’s “The Ed Show” at 8pmET, placing second for the hour in both ratings measurements.
