HLN Expands “Issues” to Seven Days

By Chris Ariens

TVNewser has learned HLN is expanding “Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell” to seven days a week.

This means two Atlanta-based HLN shows, “Not Just Another Cable News Show” and “News to Me” will be canceled. We’re told one New York staffer will lose their job in the programming shuffle. Other staffers are expected to be absorbed into other HLN programming. The change happens later this month.

“Issues,” which will air at 7pmET and 9pmET Saturday and Sunday nights, joins Nancy Grace and Showbiz Tonight airing seven days a week.

“Issues” debuted Oct. 17, 2008 as the replacement for Glenn Beck who moved to Fox News Channel. Velez-Mitchell has proven to be a hit for HLN during the week. The program has improved the time period by 67% in Total Viewers and 48% in the A25-54 demo, year-over-year, when compared to the first week of March ’08.
