HLN ‘Morning Express’ Host Robin Meade to Co-Host Oprah Winfrey Network Specials

By Alex Weprin

If there has been one standout in HLN’s lineup this year, it would be “Morning Express” with Robin Meade. The program has seen explosive growth, soundly beating “American Morning” on CNN and even MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” in the key25-54 demo.

Now it looks like Meade will be getting some primetime love from the soon-to-launch OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network.

Meade will co-host a series of specials “Ask Oprah’s All Stars” with Gayle King. The series will feature Oprah regulars Suze Orman, Dr. Phil McGraw and Dr. Mehmet Oz answering questions from Meade, King and viewers, and will kick-off Sunday, Jan. 2, with new episodes each Sunday that month.

“Gayle King and Robin Meade are the perfect personalities to moderate our ‘All Stars’ special events,” said Lisa Erspamer, chief creative officer of OWN in a statement.  “They are both excellent broadcasters who will help our viewers kick off the New Year in a new way with Suze, Phil and Oz.”

Meade will moderate the episodes airing Jan. 2 and Jan. 16, with King moderating the episodes on Jan. 9 and 23.
