By Noah Davis

“Isiah Thomas thought he would be dead by age 20, so at 49 he offers no apologies for betting on himself. Exiled in Miami, haunted by his proximity to LeBron James, Thomas embraces his articles of blind faith like one would a baby in a storm.”

He’s currently coaching the Florida International University, dreaming of returning to Madison Square Garden. As he tells it, LeBron James would be playing in NYC if Thomas was still with the Knicks organization. He defends some of his more terrible personnel decisions while general manager with the argument that he was recruiting players who James liked.

Thomas, who almost returned as an consultant to the Knicks before someone realized it might not be a good idea seeing as he was a college coach and all, clearly has his heart in New York. His head, however, might be in the clouds.
