Hey, Let's Talk a Bit About the NBA Lockout

By Noah Davis

NBA players started the process of voting to decertify their union. It’s far from a done deal, however.

After a Sports Business Journal report surfaced that two teams had voted unanimously to decertify, NBPA executive officer Billy Knight told anyone who would listen that the union was still “pretty far off” from completing the decertification.

The latest moves are simply positioning for the negotiations to come at a later date. They are similar to what the NFLPA did back in September. At the time, the NFLPA head said it was a “non-story” until March with the collective bargaining agreement expired. It’s smart to view the NBPA’s tactics in the same light.
