Here’s One Way to Take the Focus Off the Tribune News

By Chris Ariens

The biggest news story in Chicago today is no longer the bankruptcy filing of a company founded 30 years before a cow destroyed the city. It is the arrest of the Governor.

The cable news networks broke the news of the arrest of Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich within a few seconds of each other around 9:16amET. Blagojevich is in custody on corruption charges. Among other things, the Governor is accused of conspiring to sell or trade Barack Obama’s Senate seat.

Okay, so the former governor of Illinois, George Ryan, is in prison. The current governor is in custody. Nice.

I guess the Chicago Tribune will have plenty to report for the next few months. Let’s just hope they can sell some more ad pages too.
