HD Coming For World News

By SteveK

Earlier this week, a TVNewser tipster emailed that ABC World News Now was being broadcast from Washington, D.C. rather than New York. “They’re actually switching over to HD. A lot of people are making that conversion at home right now. We are, too, at ABC,” said anchor Jeremy Hubbard Vinita Nair at the top of Monday’s show.

It appears the change is coming to a lot of programs for ABC News.

Sources tell TVNewser that beginning tomorrow from Denver, World News with Charles Gibson and Nightline will begin broadcasting in HD. The programs join Good Morning America and This Week, which are currently broadcast in high definition. And this year for the first time, ABC’s primetime coverage of the convention (10pm) will be in HD as well.

More details are expected tomorrow.

> Update: Broadcasting and Cable has the details. World News Now is not one of the programs switching to HD, not yet anyway.
