WaPo’s Tom Shales penned a column today calling ABC’s selection of Christiane Amanpour as host of This Week, “a bad choice.”
Giving Amanpour the “This Week” job seems like one more bitter pill for ABC professionals to swallow, even as they overdose on all the others they’ve been forced to gulp down.
It didn’t take long for ABC News to respond.
Spokesperson Jeffrey Schneider told FishbowlDC, “If we are being accused of hiring one of the most well respected journalists in the world we proudly plead guilty and are looking forward to having Christiane focus her considerable talents on the Sunday morning landscape.”
New York Times columnist Paul Krugman also waded into the debate calling Shales’ attack “weird.” Krugman is often a guest on “This Week,” which he mentioned in his blog post.
