harrisfaulkner_304x200An anchor and reporter at Fox News for nine years, weekend “Fox Report” host Harris Faulkner has become one of the network’s biggest champions of leveraging social media on-air and in her reporting.

“One of the things I love about Fox News is that it looks at something and tries to figure out how it can be useful in the journey and bring everybody else along and lead the way.”

Faulkner, who live-tweets with fans from the Fox News “Deck” during “Shepard Smith Reporting” weekdays, and reads social comments on-air during her weekend show, was behind Fox News’ “Strategy Room”— an eight hour marathon streamed on FoxNews.com. Full disclosure: I worked on Strategy Room during my time at the network.

“It taught you how to do social TV…people weren’t even really doing it then,” she said. “They thought GetGlue was getting some Elmer’s.”

Check out Faulkner’s wide-ranging interview at our sister-site Lost Remote on how the rise of social TV is complementing traditional TV news, and how it is changing the on-air presentation and the news-gathering process.
