Former CBS Saturday Early Show co-anchor Gretchen Carlson is the new co-host of Fox & Friends, the network announced this afternoon. Carlson will replace E.D. Hill starting this Monday.

Carlson jumped from CBS to FNC in June 2005. TVNewser hinted at the change in August, noting that Carlson had been “getting a lot of A.M. airtime lately.”

> “Gretchen’s warm personality and dynamic energy is a perfect fit for FOX & Friends,” Bill Shine said…

> FNC bio: “In 1989, before starting her television career, she was the first classical violinist to be crowned Miss America. In 1990, Carlson graduated with honors from Stanford University and also studied at Oxford University in England…”
