Governor Gretchen Carlson?

Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson, whose sexual harassment lawsuit filed against Roger Ailes toppled the legendary news executive from his perch as Fox News chairman and chief executive this week, may have her eyes on a new line of work: politics.

Writing at the Connecticut politics and media blog The Laurel, Dean Pagani says “Carlson…has emerged as the victor in the court of public opinion and positioned herself as a tough and principled leader, standing up for her rights and the rights of others when no one else would. The sort of leader who might appeal particularly to women voters.”

Pagani notes that Carlson, who lives in Greenwich, could be tempted to join the upcoming 2018 race for governor. Last June, in an interview on WFSB’s Face the State, Carlson was asked by host Dennis House if she would ever consider public office. “Yes,” she answered, saying the office of governor was the most intriguing.

Even more intriguing: last June, when that interview aired, House hinted that another potential candidate in the governor’s race in 2018 could be MSNBC host Joe Scarborough.
