Gore Vidal Has Beef With Wolf Blitzer, Apparently

FishbowlNY found a new Gore Vidal essay, which takes some shots at CNN for their coverage of his 2008 horse, Rep. Dennis Kucinich.

Vidal calls CNN “a lousy network” and takes a pointed attack at the Des Moines Register — or, as Vidal puts it on second reference, “whatever that awful newspaper is called.”

His main issue is the fact that Kucinich was excluded from last week’s Iowa debate. But, strangely, he puts half the blame on Wolf Blitzer. “This was a decision that was made, I can tell, jointly by the one-time voice of AIPAC, Mr. Wolf Blitzer, and, at the same time, The Des Moines Register.”

What Blitzer (and his affiliation with AIPAC?!) has to do with the Iowa debates, which the networks ran as a simulcast and had no control over, isn’t clear in Vidal’s rant. But what is clear is he’s pretty angry about the whole thing.

“I have never felt more ashamed being an American than when I saw how this debate was handled,” he wrote. Uh, never?
