‘Good Morning America’ Expanding to the Afternoon

ABC’s “The Revolution” is being canceled and replaced by an extra hour of “Good Morning America,” in the afternoon. The hour will broadcast live at 2pmET/1pmCT and will be hosted by members of the GMA team. TVNewser hears Josh Elliott and Lara Spencer will likely be the lead hosts along with Sam Champion and other GMA anchors and contributors. The existing GMA staff will produce the third, afternoon hour.

The show will run for at least 9 weeks this summer beginning in mid-June, ending its run around the time Kate Couric’s syndicated show hits the airwaves on many ABC stations. Couric is not part of the expanded “GMA,” but insiders say don’t be surprised if she turns up from time to time.

Deadline, which first reported the story, also reports ABC’s lone daytime drama “General Hospital” is also being renewed.

“The Revolution,” which launched in January, is a lifestyle, encouragement and support show hosted by design expert Ty Pennington, style guru Tim Gunn, celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak, OB-GYN Dr. Jennifer Ashton, and therapist Dr. Tiffanie Davis Henry.
