Golf Channel Adds a Morning Show… That Won't Just Cover Golf

By Alex Weprin

Golf Channel, the Comcast-owned cable network that covers all things golf, is adding a live weekday morning show to its lineup. In a twist, the show will not just cover golf, but rather “will place an emphasis on golf while also offering a fresh perspective on topical news, sports and pop culture,” according to the network.

The program, tentatively called “Dawn Patrol,” will air from 7-9 AM Monday through Friday, beginning in January, 2011.

Golf is currently in the process of casting the two co-hosts.

“We’ve wanted to introduce a morning show to Golf Channel for a number of years and felt that now was the right time,” said Tom Stathakes, Golf Channel senior vice president of programming, production and operations, announcing the program. “Tackling everything from Tiger Woods to Brett Favre, the show’s format will be unlike anything we’ve done before and we are very excited to be launching it in 2011.”
