“Good Morning America Weekend” is celebrating a major milestone this week: its fifth anniversary. ABC will even be handing out free hot dogs and cupcakes in Times Square for the festivities.
The show had its debut on on September 4, 2004 in the current format. Since then, both the Saturday and Sunday broadcast have seen regular, steady growth each season. In the ’04/’05 season, Saturday’s “GMA Weekend” averaged 2.18M Total Viewers compared to 2.72M for the ’08/’09 season. The Sunday broadcast has also grown, from 1.91M Total Viewers to 2.39M over the same time period.
