Glenn Greenwald Accuses Mika Brzezinski Of Using ‘White House Talking Points’

By Alex Weprin

The Guardian‘s Glenn Greenwald continues to make the TV news rounds, following the revelation yesterday that a man named Edward Snowden is the source behind the NSA leaks. This morning Greenwald appeared on NBC’s “Today” and MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” He appeared on ABC’s “This Week” and CNN’s “Reliable Sources” yesterday.

Greenwald has long been one of the most vocal critics of the U.S. media, particularly TV news, which he has accused for years of being in the tank for the U.S. government, regardless of who the President is. That critical history, along with what a non-stop schedule of TV appearances–may have factored in to the combative interviews this morning.

“Morning Joe,” had the most explosive back and forth, with Greenwald accusing Mika Brzezinski of using “White House talking points” in her questioning. Brzezinski would later say that Greenwald was so testy because journalists like him “actually don’t like questions.”

On NBC’s “Today, Savannah Guthrie interviewed Greenwald, and the exchange was far less explosive than his MSNBC appearance, though it was still somewhat combative.

It appears as though Greenwald was supposed to appear on CNN’s “Starting Point” this morning, as an appearance was teased multiple times this morning. A TVEyes search and a search on CNN.com did not turn up an interview, and later on during “Starting point” John Berman referenced Greenwald’s “Today” interview, suggesting he did not make his interview.
