Glenn Beck on “Fourth-Most-Impressive Election Team on Television”

The New York Observer’s Felix Gillette writes about the emerging political presence of Headline News, despite its plan to provide alternative programming on election nights. Glenn Beck, who has, since Super Tuesday, hosted multiple live hours of his program during big primary nights, jokingly calls his coverage, “the fourth-most-impressive election team on television,” but it still has brought higher ratings for his program than average.

Beck said he expects to continue the election-themed live shows throughout the primary season, possibly on April 22 for the Pennsylvania primary, reports Gillette.

Although the political focus works for Beck, Ken Jautz, EVP of CNN Worldwide and HLN head says that programs like Nancy Grace and Showbiz Tonight will still provide alternative programming. “They say, ‘It’s a big-deal night in politics, folks, and if you’re interested, go over to CNN,'” said Jautz to Gillette. “Despite starting off that way, the shows do well. Why? Because it’s a large nation with diverse news needs.”

Don’t expect any “Magic Wall” or “Bill Board” during Beck’s coverage. “I said the other day, I think we should go the other way,” said Beck in the article. “We should bring in an abacus.”
