Glenn Beck Book Promo Causes Chaos at Some Barnes & Noble Stores, Brings Charges of a ‘Liberal Conspiracy’

By Alex Weprin

Next week, the first book to come out of former Fox News host Glenn Beck’s book imprint Mercury Ink will be released. To help promote it, Beck announced on his radio show a special 50% off deal. There was just one problem: the deal was only for online pre-orders, and some fans that went to actual Barnes & Noble stores were left in the cold.

Our sister blog GalleyCat explains:

One bookstore employee recounted the chaos at his store: “We had a slew of people coming in to the store, expecting to get the book 50% off (a one day online only offer) but being told that we couldn’t sell the book to them until next week. We got told by several people that this was a liberal conspiracy to suppress this book.
