Glenn Beck Beats Glenn Beck

By Chris Ariens

In a 9pmET face-off against himself, Glenn Beck (on CNN) topped Glenn Beck (on Headline News) last night.

Filling in on Larry King Live on CNN, Beck drew 269,000 A25-54 demo viewers and 950,000 Total Viewers. His 9pmET show on HLN (which has its first airing at 7pm) drew 118,000 in the demo and 393,000 Total Viewers.

There’s also a controversy brewing about one of Beck’s bookings on the King broadcast. Beck got the first interview with conservative radio talk show host Michael Savage following Savage’s comments about autism. At one point, he called autistic kids “morons.” You can imagine what parents of autistic kids think of Savage. Anyway, that clip is after the jump.

But the controversy wasn’t about what Savage said, but about a guest who may have been bumped in favor of Savage. An emailer writes to TVNewser that radio talker Ed Schultz has gone on his nationally syndicated show telling listeners he was scheduled to be on Larry King last night, but was canceled about an hour ahead of the broadcast. The emailer writes, “Schultz is playing this up as a big insult and that Beck has had it in for Schultz for a while.”
